Today, St. John had its first ANNUAL Eagle Run 5k. What began months ago as planning in a PTO meeting came to full fruition today - complete with more than 230 runners, wonderful volunteers & sponsors, spectacular family and friends on hand for cheering everyone on, and all and all, a most excellent event for everyone involved.

There are so many things I enjoyed about this race.
1. The number of families from the school and the parish who participated. There were so many parent/child teams...running together, walking together, but most importantly, having FUN together. Some of these kids had never run before, but wow, with their parents at their sides, they were all smiles. Proud and happy to be a part of something special.

2. The staff was incredible! SO many teachers were there, cheering kids on, calling them by name. Anyone watching could tell it made the kids so happy to know that someone (actually, a lot of people) knew their name and were encouraging them to the finish.

3. The enthusiasm was contagious! WOW, there were so many people at the finish line - they were at the end clapping for the first person as well as the last person. What a community of faith we are a part of - what an inspiration for me, what a great example for my kids.

I feel blessed to have planned this event with the help of some wonderful people. Thank you to all who came out and braved the rather chilly 40 degree May morning to run, volunteer and quite simply, support a wonderful church and school community.

I can't wait to do it again! :)

Yay! I was hoping to see you at Pump yesterday morning (I didn't realize Chris was out of town) to tell you that Eli had double-booked himself, so we weren't able to run it. NEXT TIME! So happy that you had such a great turnout!
